Building Living Games With Tiny AI
This effort demands MultiUser Dungeon setting, with objects that save state.
And low-powered AI agents, or npcs, that participate in simulated business processes.
A business process is just a Pneumatic Air Tube Network, that smartly connects departments and people.
The precise name for it is BPMN, which stands for Business Process Model and Notation.
And in practice translates to a little network map of people, where every line that connects them represent that air tube.
It is of some note that a BPMN graph editing application, always includes logic if approved then send there is not send here.
But I recommend, that you visualize just the people at first, instead of confusing graph logic, just a person who routes messages.
Again, it is just pneumatic air tubes, through which you send messages.
The reason why our AI must think in terms of BPM and BPMN, is because small AI will make mistakes.
But according to some back of the envelope calculation AI and I made, these can be completely eliminated in a BPMN/MUD harness.
The reason why we couldn't use MUD and BPMN to make AI ten yeas ago, is because this requires really smart and healthy developers.
And they got paid better by doing things other than, creating pneumatic air tube networks inside virtual text adventure worlds.
Today we have large language models that can do all the programming for us, and in just the span of one weird Caturday.
The AI will create the text adventure, and business process management framework or system.
And then on top of that, build some world, with rooms, objects, and agents.
And then a network of pneumatic tubes, that smartly routes messages, between well prepared and configured agents.
I mentioned the miniature e-mail system, because I want you to understand you can put a human into the world.
If you ever make a big program then you should be in the political loop, you should have a final say when someone requests a refund.
So you will see yourself in this tiny pneumatic little network, as a hovering little robot, in this example part of a dispute process.
To remind you, the world saves information about the program, you can have a virtual recorder, disk, box, purse, data crystal.
And you can place one in your customers virtual home and name it profile, the virtual world is not an excess it is just a filing system like folders and files.
Some agents, have the ability to pick up, to move, to create data crystals, to save purchases to user’s private folder.
But you can’t just sit there telling agents what to do, so you create the Business Process Management Network, air tubes.
And a sign-up, will be guided down a different set of tubes, and thus actions, than an image upload, or account-termination request.
Air tubes are the programs, agents are the commands.
The world is an organization system, for high level objects that represent data.
You don't want to save everything into crystals, you tell the AI to splurge on a journal, rolodex, filing cabinet, a kanban board.
Finally, the agents in the system are given AI brains, because of the MUD and BPMN the AI can be so small that it can run in a web page.
